Day 3




Prerequisite Knowledge:


Participants will need:
  • average computer skills
  • to be able to create a digital presentation without step-by-step directions
  • to have average keyboarding skills
  • the ability to upload images from the Interent

Content:


On Day 3, participants will share their concerns about digital sharing and make a presentation about their concerns in Prezi. Participants will define what a digital footprint is and make a Glogster about digital footprints.

Objectives:


Participants will be able to:
  • Identify the benefits of digital sharing
  • Identify the safety issues associated with digital sharing
  • Identify what digital citizenship is
  • Create a Prezi sharing concerns about digital sharing
  • Create a simple Glogster describing what a digital footprint is


Activities: (see Activities 1, 2 and 3 below). FIX ORDER


1. Warm-Up Activity: Share the Padlets created for Day 2's homework. Were there any tricks you figured out when using Padlet? Do you think you will be able to use Padlet with your students?

2. The lesson will be framed by introducing the course and identifying the objectives for the day.

3. View the Padlet on Digital Citizenship (created by Renee Hudson this semester). Choose two areas of Digital Citizenship that are the most important in the grade level that you teach.

4. Use think, pair, share to discuss the two most important areas of Digital Citizenship for your grade level from the Padlet.

5. Watch Prezi titled, “Be Deadly Online: Digital Footprint” found in the following Ed.Ted Activity. Participate in the Ed.Ted Activity.

6. Prezi.com will be introduced and participants can register for free (if they have never done so). View the Screencast-o-matic titled "How to Make a Prezi" (created by Renee Hudson). How to Make a Prezi

7. Create a simple Prezi sharing concerns they have with digital sharing.

Criteria for the Prezi:

  1. title with name
  2. at least 5 circles
  3. each circle must have an image/video and text
  4. at least one video (which can replace the image in one cirlce)
  5. at least one fade-in effect

8. Share your Prezi with the class.

9. View the Glogster with the video which is embedded in the Glogster (created by Renee Hudson) at Digital Citizenship Glogster

10. Glogster will be introduced and participants can register for free (if they have never done so). For the Glogster video (created by Renee Hudson this semester) click here.

11. Participants will create a simple Glogster about what a digital footprint is.

Criteria for the Glogster:

  1. title and your name
  2. two images about digital footprints
  3. one video
  4. at least two text boxes

12. Share digital presentations with the class.

13. Complete the Exit Card. Make a Voki (on Voki.com), Vocaroo (on Vocaroo.com) or a Blabberize (on Blabberize.com) to respond to the following:
What concerns do you have about digital citizenship? Define digital footprint. Also add one "plus" and one "delta" for today's lesson. Embed or post the link below.

Homework:


Make a simple Glogster or Prezi for homework that you could use as a sample for a student project. For example: a second grade teacher could make a sample Prezi or Glogster about how to protect the environemtn. This could be used in your classroom as a sample when students are learning to use Prezi or Glogster.
